Berry ~ Cow Character Adopted from the Agency
Blissful Joy by Neonkiwi
Name:
Berry of the Cherry Blossom .:. Berry
Gender:
Heifer .:. Female .:. ♀
Species:
Bovine .:. Cow
Reason You Want It:
I have always wanted a bovine character; perhaps it's because I'm a farmgirl, I'm not even sure. But as I was looking through the Agency my heart melted as a saw her, just like it did when my real heifer (Berry) was born. Although I'm not usually a fan of an abnormal number of limbs/tails, when she came into veiw I knew that with her I didn't care. Berry has something that reminds me of myself, just when I look at her, if its her earth elemental design or her lightning bolt necklace or perhaps the sense of independance and inner peace she gives off to me. But maybe it's all those reasons, and that is what I'm starting to believe. I hope I can get the opperitunity to spend many hours with Berry running around in my head; perhaps in a new story or a drawing. Either way I can assure that she will be loved when she is with me.
Personality:
Berry is independent, she doesn't need someone to hold her hoof; she can get around by herself. Pushing her around is not an option, She's going do something when she wants how she wants; stubborn as a board if you ask it to break itself.. Although that doesn't mean she doesn't listen to orders. Berry isn't one to hold her tounge, she shares what she thinks. It often goes against orders, or rules laid down by her leader or others above her. If its a rule there's bound to be a reason to break it, it doesn't matter to her. But don't get her wrong; Berry is respectful, kind, caring, and helpful but she lives life on the edge. Always questioning rules and defieing orders. Overall Berry is a rule-breaker, a limit-pusher but she has inner peace and to her thats what life is all about.
History:
The wind tickled the willow's long arms as a feminine bovine sauntered out from under the tree's protection. Her glossy nose and gentle eyes, glittered in the full moon light as she looked down into the shallow river.
"This is the one, she will grow like a tree among the herds. Until her sweet taste will over take the thistle's sharp pain." spoke the cow as a picture of a calf formed on the river surface.
"She will be the savior? whispered a bull who had stood in the shadows until now. "If she is then, Fern, I hope you are right.''
The cow named Fern looked at the bull, her gentle blue eyes surveyed his expression, "Yes Cloud, I am right but how do we let them know if her herd is without a healer?''
"Send Reed a message she will know what to do, besides I believe their is one who could be healer...'' Cloud said quietly.
Sighing he left the river's side with Fern at his heels. Only the wind was left to ponder the small calf and the prophecy.
She will grow like a tree among the herds.
Until her sweet taste will over take,
the thistle's sharp pain.

The night was losing the battle between darkness and light, as the first rays of sun peeked over the tree tops. Hooves pounded the ground as a small band of bulls galloped through the forest. Heart racing the leading sire slowed, as the neared the hill above the herd's valley. It was almost hard for him to breathe, not because he was tired from the run, it was becuase his mate was close to dropping her calf* when they had left that morning.
"Are you alright Fire?" A young bull by the name of Lark asked him as they entered the valley.
Fire didn't say anything, his nerves were on at full swing.
"Lark do you really need to ask?" One of the cows stated firmly, "His mate is calving! Of course he is worried!"
Fire flicked his tail in thanks towards the female, unable to talk. He trotted away from the small patrol. His feet carried him to the Calving Grove, an area hidden by trees in the center of the valley's main meadow.
As he entered Fire winced at the painfilled bellows of his mate. The rest of the way in he rushed, yearning to see his beloved.
"Almost done Star, almost done!" an elderly cow encourged his cow as he saw her. "Stay back Fire. I know you want see but it's almost over."
He flicked his tail, as leader he didn't usual take orders but he listen to the old cow because she knew what she was doing. Then with one last painfilled bellow Star heaved and then sighed as a bundle slid on to the ground. Getting up the fresh cow** turned and started to lick her new calf.
Fire slowly walked closer, "Oh Star. It's beautiful..." he whispered nuzzling his mates neck.
"Yes she is Fire. I already chose a name, Berry, after your mother." Star nuzzled back and then contiued licking the new heifer calf.
"She's perfect." He breathed, pride filled his voice.

"But ma! I want to go out an see the valley. I don't want to be stuck in here the rest of my life!" The green-eyed heifer calf whined.
"Berry, Berry, Berry. You won't be stuck her forever, my silly little girl." Star said to her young calf.
But the calf wasn't listening anymore. She was bouncing after a butterfly that fluttered inside the Calving Grove. The calf seemed so carefree, so energetic. Star watched with love in her eyes, her first calf had been a bull, yes she was proud, but a heifer is something special. Even with her two tails, which wasn't that uncommon in the Mist Herd. It is actually one of the reasons Mist Herd was created. Star layed down after watching and soon fell asleep.
"Ha Ha. Now after waiting patiently the might warrior can escape her capturers!" Berry said defiently. She trotted towards the Grove's entrance, then tip-toeing past her mother, she skipped away from her "capturer".
"The rival Maple Herd Guard was no match for the beautiful warrior!" she sang to herself.
As she stepped into the valley she blinked in the light.
"Whoa!" Berry gasped, it was amazing. "This is so awe-"
She stopped abruptly as she scampered out of the way of some older cattle stamped past.
She galloped back into the Calving Grove, breathing hard.

*Dropping her calf means that she was giving birth or in this case she was close to giving birth to her calf.
**Fresh Cow means that she just gave birth. So a Fresh Cow is a cow who just gave birth to her calf.
